Speaking at the event which opens the celebration of the 200th anniversary of the establishment of the Serbian government, attended by Serbian Prime Minister Vojislav Kostunica, Markovic said that the present day government, as well as the first one established in 1805, was given the mandate by the parliament.
In the meantime, many governments in Serbia tried to judge, pass laws and rule. This government knows that three branches of authority must be divided and that no one has the right to rule the people without their will. That is something that all future Serbian governments should know, the parliament speaker said.
Markovic pointed out in his speech that the task of the current Serbian government is to find allies on the country’s road to Europe.
The event in Veliki Borak was attended by ministers Dragan Jocic, Predrag Bubalo, Radomir Naumov and Bojan Dimitrijevic, along with representatives of the Serbian parliament caucuses, the Army of Serbia-Montenegro, the Serbian Orthodox Church and other religious communities.
In Veliki Borak, on August 27, 1805, in the house of prince Sima Markovic, the Praviteljstvujusci Sovjet was established, the first government of the restored Serbian state, whose head was priest Mateja Nenadovic.
