Prime Minister Miloš Vučević met with Ambassador of Cuba to Serbia Leyde Ernesto Rodríguez Hernández today to discuss improving the two countries’ overall cooperation, which is based on traditional friendship and closeness between the two peoples.
Vučević conveyed his appreciation of Cuba’s support regarding Serbia’s territorial integrity and sovereignty, as well as its firm position of not recognising the unilaterally declared independence of the so-called Kosovo.
The Prime Minister expressed concern over the situation in Kosovo and Metohija and the terror that Serbs are subjected to daily due to Albin Kurti’s effort to ethnically cleanse the southern Serbian province.
He pointed out that it is necessary to exert international pressure on Priština to resume the dialogue with Belgrade and stop the terror against the Serbs.
Vučević particularly thanked Cuba for not supporting the resolution before Srebrenica at the UN General Assembly, which he noted has not contributed to stabilisation in the region or the improvement of relations between the Serb and Bosniak peoples.
The Prime Minister emphasised that he sees room for strengthening bilateral cooperation primarily in the fields of science and health care, where experts from the two countries can exchange experience, knowledge and technologies.
Also, Vučević highlighted the potential for strengthening economic cooperation in the fields of agriculture and industry.
The Ambassador of Cuba said that his country supports the sovereignty and integrity of Serbia in principle, and stressed that a solution to the issue of Kosovo and Metohija can only be reached through dialogue.
He handed the Prime Minister a letter from Prime Minister of Cuba Manuel Marrero Cruz, who congratulated him on taking office and wished him success in his future work.
