Minister of Justice Maja Popović met today with representatives of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Popović highlighted the fruitful, long-standing cooperation between Serbia and Italy, particularly emphasising the excellent cooperation with the Italian Ministry of Justice.
Head of the Italian delegation Raffaele Langella introduced Popović to the activities of the Falcone-Borsellino project, and in this regard, the wider initiative that includes judges, prosecutors, police and other relevant authorities.
He explained that this project, through a holistic approach of bringing together all relevant actors, has so far given excellent results, primarily in the fight against organised crime in South America.
The Minister highlighted the need for a joint fight against this type of crime, and said that Serbia has excellent cooperation with European Union institutions, such as EUROJUST, as well as numerous United Nations bodies.
Popović pointed out that numerous bilateral agreements ratified by Serbia are the basis for a joint action in the future.
