Comprehensive cooperation between Serbia and Ohio

Belgrade/Columbus, 28 January 2019

Prime Minister Ana Brnabic said in Columbus today that the military-military cooperation between the Serbian Army and the National Guard of Ohio is very good and that in these healthy, good relations we will build cooperation in the civilian and in all other areas.

Brnabic told reporters at the Ohio National Guard headquarters, after meeting with National Guard Commander Major General John Harris, that we have between 10 and 15 joint activities annually, and this year there will be 30.

She added that the National Guard in Serbia was recognised for engaging in the reconstruction and renovation of schools and kindergartens throughout Serbia, for which she expressed gratitude to Harris.

Harris assessed that it is the ideal moment for long-standing friendly relations to be used to improve cooperation.

The Prime Minister said she came to convey our gratitude for the cooperation between the Serbian Army and the National Guard of Ohio, but that is much more for us. We have a long-standing friendship with many people in Serbia. It is the ideal time to use this much more than military-military cooperation – for the development of civil and economic cooperation, cooperation in the field of education, he underlined.

Brnabic talked about cooperation in the field of agriculture with representatives of the business community in Ohio, where more than 200,000 people of Serbian origin live.

According to Brnabic, they know that Serbia is one of the world's largest exporters of quality strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, honey, which is why we talked about the opportunities for our products to come to the United States.

In addition to Ohio National Guard, Serbia has partners in Ohio, but also in Atlanta, such as Cooper Tiers, which, as the Prime Minister indicated, is very satisfied with the business in Serbia.

Today we have launched a discussion on the signing of a more comprehensive agreement on cooperation between Serbia and Ohio, which will result in more cooperation in economy and education, concluded the Prime Minister.
