The Serbian government passed today additional measures to avert the spread of COVID-19, following the recommendations of Serbian epidemiologists and in line with the recommendations of the World Health Organization (WHO).
A temporary ban on entry into Serbia for foreign nationals coming from the areas with intense corona virus transmission is introduced.
This applies to persons coming from Italy, certain provinces of the People’s Republic of China, South Korea, Iran and parts of Switzerland.
The government also passed a recommendation for strict adherence to the ban on travel of employees of the health and social care system in the Republic of Serbia to the countries with intensive COVID-19 transmission and the countries which are the focal points of the epidemic.
The Serbian health care system has faced this situation with readiness, taking all the necessary measures to minimise the number of the infected.
Owing to the timely and responsible reaction of our health system, the number of coronary virus patients in Serbia is four.
There is no room for panic and concern as Serbia has reacted responsibly from the outset and tightened controls at border crossings, especially at airports.
The relevant institutions act in line with the instructions of the WHO and the recommendations of our epidemiologists who have been educated for such epidemiological situations for decades, and some of them have had personally dealt with similar situations.
The Serbian government calls on citizens to exclusively follow the advice of medical experts.
The Ministry of Health, together with the Institute of Public Health of Serbia "Dr Milan Jovanovic Batut", network of public health institutes and competent health institutions monitor the epidemiological situation caused by the new coronavirus in the Republic of Serbia and the world and act in accordance with the new findings and recommendations of the WHO for the public and with the instructions to health care institutions and other competent bodies.
