Director of the Institute "Dr Milan Jovanovic Batut" Verica Jovanovic announced that a total of 457 cases of coronavirus infections have been confirmed in our country by 15.00 today, and that today three persons died from the infection.
At a regular press conference held at the Palace of Serbia, Jovanovic pointed out that, since the last report, 295 people were tested, 73 of whom were positive and 222 negative.
She stated that 47 people are hospitalised, and today, by 15.00, a total of 1,456 people have been tested who met the case definition criteria.
Jovanovic said that three deaths have been recorded today, including two previously reported and a woman aged 48 who passed away at Dragisa Misovic Hospital today.
Prevention is vital in stopping the further spread of the coronavirus in Serbia, she said, reiterating that the elderly are the most affected by this virus.
The situation is difficult in other countries and the state can only suppress the infection with the support of citizens who respect all measures, she pointed out.
Respect for all the recommendations of the health sector and keeping a social distance are most important, Jovanovic emphasised, urging all citizens, especially pensioners, not to go out and respect government measures so as not to bring their lives and lives of others in danger.
Speaking about the situation in Kosovo-Metohija, she emphasised that our health institutions in the province are part of the state system of Serbia and that there is daily communication with the Institute for Public Health in Kosovska Mitrovica, as well as other health institutions, which respect all recommendations and measures passed by the state of Serbia.
Jovanovic said there are currently 25 people using ventilators, stating that the number of coronavirus patients is the highest in Belgrade - 177, in Kolubara district 42 and in Nis 40.
She pointed out that the number of patients, observed by cities, is changing from hour to hour, with a detailed analysis announced only once or twice a day, so that different data are not published.
According to her, since Belgrade, Valjevo and Nis are designated as focal points, crisis staffs, institutes and services in the territory of Belgrade, Kolubara and Nis districts intensively apply all epidemiological surveillance measures, while a possible decision on new measures will be made.
According to her, the epidemiological situation is intensively monitored and surveillance is carried out in each district, on the basis of which analyses are made.
At the same time, Jovanovic expressed her gratitude to the Ministry of Health and everyone in the health sector for their cooperation and great support, especially the emergency medical service.
