The Serbian government stated that enrolment of children in the first grade of primary school, which traditionally begins on 1 April, will start later this year due to the current coronavirus situation and the state of emergency.
Instead of enrolment, as of 1 April parents and other legal representatives will be able to contact the school they want to enrol their child in through new service “Expression of interest in enrolling in primary school” on the e-Government portal and by telephone.
The new e-service has been jointly developed by the teams of the Cabinet of the Prime Minister, Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development and the Office of Information Technology and e-Government.
In this way, schools will record parents' interest in enrolling their child in a particular school so that they can know for sure what number of pupils they can expect. All parents who will use this electronic service will be notified of the date of enrolment in primary school.
After setting the date of enrolment, the e-Governance portal will give an option of scheduling appointments for enrolment and testing with the psychologist/ pedagogue, which will enable parents to complete all child enrolment procedures during one appointment at school without having to bring a single document.
