In a statement for TV Pink, Brnabic underlined that there is currently no fight that is more important than the fight against coronavirus, and that there will be time for protests. She reiterated that full support for the fight against coronavirus is the most important, and as for other topics, primarily political, the most important is the dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina.
The Prime Minister assessed that these are really difficult times for Serbia and explained that this is a struggle of each and every one of us.
This is not a fight of one government and the COVID-19 Crisis Response Team, but a fight of every individual for society, and protests and any gatherings represent irresponsible and frivolous behaviour that harms our health system and that is why I urge people not to go to public gatherings, said the Prime Minister of Serbia.
Brnabic also stated that the numbers regarding those sick with coronavirus are somewhat better since this morning compared to yesterday, but that it is far from the situation being under control, which is why gatherings are a great risk.
According to her, during the violence at the protests, great material damage was caused, only during the first two evenings in the City of Belgrade the damage caused is RSD 30 million of destroyed public property and a few million euros of both public and private property, which someone must compensate.
The Prime Minister pointed out that it was not yet clear what the purpose of the protest is and that she had heard several different messages. She noted that many citizens respect the measures and follow all advice of medical experts, but then others take to the streets, thus endangering themselves and others.
Our society has one common enemy and this is the war against coronavirus, which we need to win together, after which there will be time for everything else, Brnabic concluded.
