Minister of Health Zlatibor Loncar stated today that most deaths from coronavirus are in the age group from 60 to 69, followed by the age group from 70 to 79, whereas the fewest deaths are in the population aged 20 to 29.

Minister of Health Zlatibor Loncar stated today that most deaths from coronavirus are in the age group from 60 to 69, followed by the age group from 70 to 79, whereas the fewest deaths are in the population aged 20 to 29.
Speaking at a press conference of the COVID-19 Crisis Response Team held at the Palace of Serbia, Loncar said that the deaths in these two age groups account for over 50 percent of all coronavirus-related deaths.
According to him, the deaths in the age group from 20 to 29 account for 0.72 percent of total deaths, from 30 to 39 – 1.08 percent, while the middle-aged generation, from 40 to 49 years of age, account for 8.6 percent of all deaths, and those aged 50 to 59 - 14.34 percent.
Most deaths are in the age group from 60 to 69 – 28.67 percent, followed by 70 to 79 – 27.96 percent. The patients over 80 years of age account for 18.64 percent of all deaths, Loncar stated.
Speaking about the gender ratio, the Minister said that 64.84 percent of those that died were men and 35.16 women.
Director of the Serbian Public Health Institute “Dr Milan Jovanovic Batut” Verica Jovanovic said that children will wear masks if prescribed by doctors and that the safety measures in kindergartens remain to be keeping distance, airing of premises and hand hygiene.
Director of the Office for Information Technologies and e-Government Mihailo Jovanovic said that a new service has been activated today on the e-Government portal where citizens can opt for receiving either through e-mail or SMS the information on whether their coronavirus test is ready.
