Minister without portfolio in charge of innovations and technological development and Chairman of the Intergovernmental Committee for Cooperation with the Russian Federation Nenad Popovic stated today that according to the initial plan, the Torlak Institute for Virology, Vaccines and Sera in Belgrade should produce 4 million doses of the Sputnik V vaccine in the first phase.

Production of Sputnik V at Torlak may start at end of May

In a statement to Radio Television of Serbia, Popovic said that 3,000 vials of components 1 and 2 each have been filled at Torlak.
1,100 vials of the two components each will be sent to the Gamaleya Institute in Moscow, where they will be 21 days and where experts will analyse the components and decide whether Torlak is ready to start the production, he explained.
If everything goes well, the production will start at the end of May and the first citizens in Serbia will be vaccinated by the Sputnik V vaccine made in Serbia.
The Minister said that Serbian experts will work with their colleagues from Moscow on a feasibility study regarding everything that Torlak needs in order to start producing Sputnik V.
