Deputy Prime Minister and President of the Coordination Body for Gender Equality Zorana Mihajlovic attended in Paris today the opening of the international forum “Generation for Equality”, dedicated to the global promotion of gender equality.
She underlined that Serbia has been recognised as a country that made serious steps in this field – from the formation of the Coordination Body, passing laws, combating with dedication the violence against women and girls, to being the first country outside the EU to have introduced a Gender Equality Index and gender responsive budgeting.
According to Mihajlovic, we have done a lot, but still we all have a lot more work ahead of us, because as long as there is a single woman or girl out there suffering discrimination or violence, we have not achieved our goal.
She added that before the meeting she had had a short conversation with French President Emmanuel Macron about the relations between the two countries and that Macron expressed gratitude for the friendship which Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic and the Serbian people cherish with France.
