Member of the COVID-19 crisis response team and Minister of Labour, Employment, Veteran and Social Affairs Darija Kisic Tepavcevic announced today that all measures to combat the spread of coronavirus remain in force.
Addressing the press after the session of this team, Kisic Tepavcevic pointed out that the epidemic situation is stable and that we have the lowest rate of new cases in Europe, but also warned that the percentage of positives is growing, especially in Belgrade, and that there are fears that it may be the beginning of some significant increase.
Answering the question whether a new wave awaits us, the Minister said that the answer depends on how we will behave, how much we will gather, whether we will be vaccinated, explaining that if we move freely and the percentage of vaccinated remains the same, we are sure new waves follow.
She reminded of the team's decision to extend the school holidays, estimating that it will significantly affect the epidemic situation.
The Minister reminded that we are entering the period of celebrations and that the same warning is repeated for the third year in a row - that everyone should be aware that the virus is there, that omicron has been detected, which has been proven to spread significantly faster.
To date, 58.2 percent of people in Serbia have been vaccinated, she specified and added that a significant number of citizens have consciously and conscientiously taken on the role of strengthening our collective immunity, but that without those 40 percent we cannot succeed.
According to her, covid passes have had an effect and inspectors are working diligently and recording results, although their number is limited.
