Minister of Foreign Affairs Nikola Selakovic met today in Skopje with President of North Macedonia Steve Pendarovski, and the occasion for the meeting was Saint Sava Day, which is celebrated in that country as National Day of Serbs.
Selakovic pointed out that this year, due to COVID-19, the Republic of North Macedonia is the only country in the region in which the celebration of St. Sava's Day and the Saint Sava Academy are organised for the Serbian minority.
He expressed gratitude to Pendarovski for his kindness and desire to hold such a meeting, saying that it is up to us to nurture good neighbourly relations with North Macedonia.
The head of Serbian diplomacy added that the meeting focused on what the two countries can do to improve the position of members of national minorities, both in Serbia and in North Macedonia.
Also, as he conveyed, they discussed the deepening of bilateral economic cooperation, and the importance of the Open Balkans initiative.
According to him, our focus is on mutual respect, fostering friendly and good neighbourly relations, but also deepening our cooperation in all fields, with a serious emphasis on economic cooperation.
