Brnabic assessed that the holding of international events, such as EXPO 2027, represents a unique opportunity to promote the economic, tourist and cultural potential of our country.
She pointed out that Serbia has proven that it has the ability, organisational and professional capacities to hold the largest international events, recalling the recently held First International Wine Fair within the Open Balkans Initiative, which gathered representatives from around 40 countries, as well as marking the 60th anniversary of the Non-Aligned Movement in Belgrade last year.
She stated that Serbia has proven itself in recent years as a successful host and organiser of numerous cultural, artistic and sports events.
The Prime Minister pointed out that our country regularly participates in world and specialised exhibitions and that it also had its own pavilion at the world exhibition EXPO 2020 in Dubai.
During the talks it was pointed out that, by investing and allocating funds for various infrastructure projects in recent years, Serbia has shown itself to be a leader in the region for holding large events.
The representatives of the mission praised Serbia for its candidacy and willingness to organise such a large event, which would significantly influence the promotion of the host country at the world level.
Serbia is officially a candidate country for the organisation of the EXPO 2027 exhibition, which will be held between 15 May and 15 August 2027. The other candidates are the states of Minnesota, Thailand, Spain and Argentina. The International Bureau of Exhibitions will choose the host country.
