In a press statement after the session, Mali explained that the plan is to build the National Stadium and a new fair complex next to it for this specialised exhibition, with financial resources already secured for those projects, although it is not yet known who will host it.
Recalling that our country proved that it can host a large number of countries at the Non-Aligned Summit in Belgrade, presented that "EXPO 2027" is an extremely important event for us, considering the economic reforms and successes we have achieved in the past ten years.
The Deputy Prime Minister stated that Serbia is in competition for the "EXPO" with Argentina, Spain, the USA and Thailand, and that after the candidacy is completed, lobbying for our country will continue until June 2023, when the results will be announced.
Mali said that Serbia’s balanced foreign policy was highlighted at the General Assembly because we have always been a country that nurtures good relations with both the East and the West.
Mali underlined that "EXPO" is an important project for the entire region, which is additionally connected with the "Open Balkans" initiative.
The 171st General Assembly of the International Bureau for Exhibitions ended today in Paris, where Serbia presented itself on the occasion of Belgrade's candidacy to host the International World Exhibition "Expo 2027".
In addition to Mali, Minister of Sport Zoran Gajic and city planner Marko Stojcic also spoke at the presentation, and Belgrade was also presented by prestigious Serbian artists – violinist Stefan Milenkovic and actor Miki Manojlovic, with video appearance of Novak Djokovic.
