At the meeting, it was stated that cooperation between Serbia and the UAE in the field of energy is on an upward trajectory and that the next step in improving cooperation is the exchange of experience, professional and technical knowledge in the use of hydrogen as an energy source.
On that occasion, Djedovic pointed out that the UAE has knowledge, developed technologies and companies that are already operating in Serbia in the field of RES and can be important partners in the further development of RES, but also green and blue hydrogen as a new energy source in our energy system.
According to her, the most significant result of the cooperation between Serbia and the UAE so far is the wind farm "Cibuk 1", which produces green energy that can supply 113,000 households, and during the year the construction of "Cibuk 2" with a power of 150 MW will begin.
Djedovic spoke today at the ministerial panel "Navigating uncertainties - setting government priorities for a net-zero future", which is held as part of the "Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week 2023", where she spoke about Serbia's plans and priorities in the development of the energy sector in the context of challenges brought about by the energy crisis.
The minister pointed out that with the completion of two major projects that are underway - the construction of the Kostolac B3 thermal power plant with a capacity of 350 megawatts and the gas interconnector to Bulgaria, which will be completed this year, our country will provide new capacities for the production of electricity and an energy infrastructure that will allow us to diversify our gas supply.
Also, Djedovic underlined that Serbia shares the global vision of the European Union when it comes to achieving carbon neutrality, and that the development of strategic documents aimed at increasing the share of RES in the energy mix and reducing the emission of harmful gases is underway.
