President of the Republic of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic and US Ambassador to Serbia Christopher Hill today officially opened the first flight of the national airline Air Serbia to Chicago with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at Nikola Tesla Airport.
Pointing out that direct air traffic between Belgrade and Chicago has been re-established after a 30-year break, Vucic thanked the American partners for providing Air Serbia with the best possible conditions in both New York and Chicago so that our company can satisfy the interest of all people from the region and provide them with safety and comfort, as well as very fast transportation.
He said that the Chicago-Belgrade flight is fully booked until 3 June, and that there are still seats available for the flight from Belgrade to Chicago, and added that this airline connects the huge Serbian diaspora living in the central part of the USA with its mother country.
The Serbian President pointed out that in the first four months of this year, Air Serbia made more than €9 million in profit, while it currently has €177 million in its account.
The Serbian national airline will fly to Chicago twice a week - on Wednesdays and Saturdays, and from 12 June passengers will have a third weekly departure on Mondays.
The flights will be operated by Airbus A330-200 aircraft from the fleet of wide-body aircraft of the Serbian national airline.
