Minister of Mining and Energy Dubravka Djedovic attended today the laying of the foundation stone for the construction of the new Saraorci solar power plant in Smederevo, in the presence of Chinese Ambassador to Serbia Chen Bo and representatives of the companies implementing the project – Chinese PowerChina and German AVR Solar Park.

The new power plant in Saraorci will have a capacity of 9.95 megawatts, and the energy it produces will be intended for the domestic market, which is enough to supply approximately 2,500 households.
Djedovic stated that the solar potential of Serbia is approximately 30 percent higher than the potential of Germany, which is one of the leaders in Europe in the production of electricity, using this type of energy.
The minister pointed out that the currently built capacities in Serbia – 157 solar power plants with a capacity of 23.3 megawatts – are far below their potential.
According to her, our country created a predictable framework for investors in renewable energy sources (RES) by amending the Law on the Use of RES and adopting a three-year auction plan for market premiums.
