At the event, held as part of the wider programme "Outlook for the competitiveness of the Western Balkans 2024", Brnabic emphasised that digitalisation has always been a priority in her work, now with a special focus on biotechnology and artificial intelligence.
The Prime Minister emphasised that Serbia is receiving OECD certificates on progress in this process, especially in terms of innovation, assessing that the cooperation between our country and that organisation is significant.
She also said that she hopes for Serbia's membership in that organisation in the near future, stressing that our past results in the integration of technology in the government and the general technological progress of the country have made Serbia more attractive for foreign investors and an example of digital transformation in the region.
Referring to the economic situation, it was pointed out that Serbia has achieved impressive growth, despite the challenges in the European economy, with a special emphasis on the construction and information and communication technology sectors.
Brnabic said that the ICT sector has become the fastest growing sector in Serbia and that this year the export of ICT services is expected to amount to almost €4 billion.
According to her, in the period from 2017 to 2022, we achieved the highest growth of services in Europe, as much as 112%, of which 45 percent represents the growth of the export of ICT services in 2022, which is more than the growth of any country in the European Union.
Participants discussed initiatives such as "BIO4Campus", which represents an advanced biotechnology center, as well as Serbia's engagement in the field of artificial intelligence.
They agreed that it is important to continue to support Serbia in the process of digital transition with joint efforts, bearing in mind that it creates new opportunities for the economic and scientific development of the country.
