BIO4 campus project that changes Serbia

Prime Minister Ana Brnabic attended today, together with President of the Republic of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic and Minister of Science, Technological Development and Innovation Jelena Begovic, a ceremony on the occasion of issuance of a construction permit for BIO4 campus.

Speaking at a cocktail reception in the Palace of Serbia, Vucic pointed out that the construction of BIO4 campus, which will be a new bioeconomic centre in Europe, is a big deal for our country and something that represents the future.

He stated that BIO4 campus will bring together seven faculties and nine scientific institutes, and that more than 1,000 PhDs will be employed there and over 4,000 students will study there.

The idea is for BIO4 campus to be one of the 10 or 12 most successful in the entire world, the President underlined, adding that it will be a common advantage of the entire region compared to other regions.

Begovic pointed out that this is the largest single investment in science ever in Serbia, as it is an investment of €450 million, with funds already provided by the Council of Europe Development Bank in the amount of €200 million for the initial construction.

According to her, this is a project that changes Serbia and affects not only our present, but also our future.

At the ceremony, Vucic, Brnabic and Begovic cut a cake, thus making the start of construction of BIO4 campus official.

The construction of BIO4 campus, a unique multidisciplinary project that will enable Belgrade to become one of the renowned and recognised bioeconomy centres in Europe, began in Belgrade today, near the Torlak Institute.

Preparatory works on the construction of the facility within BIO4 campus began on 29 May, and all works should be completed by the end of 2026.
