Prime Minister Ana Brnabic said today, during her visit to the Mihajlo Pupin Memorial Complex in Idvor, that the goal is to reconstruct that complex in order for it to become a new innovation centre for science, where young people could and to work.
Brnabic, who visited this complex together with US Ambassador to Serbia Christopher Hill, said that in the last three years, the state, through the Ministry of Culture, has invested more than RSD 20 million in the renovation of this complex, but that a comprehensive reconstruction is necessary as well as the concept of how all this will be used, primarily by young people.
According to her, Serbia is a country that clearly follows the path of knowledge, innovation, creativity, modern technologies, and that is our greatest asset and greatest potential.
Mihajlo Pupin, in addition to being one of the world's greatest scientists, was also a good politician, because he built bridges and connections with the USA, but also with other countries, the Prime Minister pointed out.
According to her, Nikola Tesla and Mihajlo Pupin left us a legacy of good relations, so that we could further develop cooperation with the USA in this direction, so there is also a link for the future, which it would be good to further develop.
Hill said this is a way to pay tribute to a great scientist who is as much Serbian as he is American.
Mihajlo Pupin is also important for us, because he moved from Serbia to the USA and studied at Columbia University, he reminded and assessed that right here in Idvor we can work on the establishment and development of Serbian-American cooperation.
Pupin was one of the founders of NASA, the first president of the New York Academy of Sciences, a member of several European and world academies of sciences, an honorary doctor of 18 universities, a professor whose students became Nobel laureates, a philanthropist, a publicist.
Pupin patented 24 of his inventions, and received many awards and recognitions for his comprehensive work.
