Serbian police reliable partner in international fight against drug trafficking

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior Ivica Dačić said today that members of the Ministry of the Interior, together with their colleagues from other member states of the Europol strike group, participate in the activities of the Spanish police in the arrest of persons and the collection of evidence in the international fight against drug trafficking.

Dačić expressed his gratitude to Europol for today's announcement in which he pointed to the role of the Serbian police, and recalled that our police, in cooperation with the Prosecutor's Office for Organised Crime, arrested 13 and filed criminal charges against 20 members of the Balkan cartel in May of last year for smuggling seven tons of cocaine, and that the trial in this case started recently.

He stated that the Serbian police were engaged in determining the assets of the suspects that were acquired through criminal activities and their temporary confiscation, which resulted in the blocking of assets worth more than €50 million, noting that the financial investigation continues, both here and abroad.

According to him, in this way, the Serbian police once again confirmed that they are a dedicated and reliable partner in the international fight against drug trafficking, in which, as part of the Europol strike group, they made a great contribution to the fight against the Balkan cartel.
