Prime Minister Miloš Vučević presided over the session of the Council for the Coordination of Activities and Measures for the Growth of Gross Domestic Product (GDP), which was also attended by President of the Republic of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić.
At the session, where the results achieved in all areas important for the stability of the domestic economy and sustainable economic growth were analysed, it was said that the areas of industry, mining and construction achieved good results, whereby this year Serbia should reach economic growth of 4.7%.
In order to preserve sustainable economic growth, further investment in capital projects is necessary, while the measures taken to attract direct foreign investments were a significant driver of the domestic economy and an additional incentive for the creation of new jobs.
When it comes to agriculture, special emphasis was placed on additional incentives in the field of animal husbandry, primarily by promoting subsidy measures and using the capacity of the IPARD programme for this agricultural branch.
The "EXPO 2027" plan for the period from 2024 to 2027 foresees comprehensive development of Serbia and includes programmes to raise the standard of living of citizens, projects in the fields of science and technology, education, infrastructure development, industrialization, energy, ecology, agriculture, health, tourism as well as other areas of national importance.
At the session, it was concluded that it is necessary to identify areas of the economy that represent a challenge for GDP growth and to direct funds to areas that can achieve safe economic growth.
It was also said that special emphasis will be placed on finding new markets for the export of domestic products.
