Beginning of trial production of electric car Fiat Grande Panda marked

President of the Republic of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić and First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Siniša Mali attended today a ceremony on the occasion of the inauguration of new production lines for the production of electric vehicles in the modernised factory in Kragujevac, which marked the beginning of trial production of a new model, Fiat Grande Panda.

Vučić pointed out that today is a great day for our country, assessing that this factory symbolises the joint success of our country and company Stellantis, as well as the struggle for accelerated progress.

CEO of Stellantis Carlos Tavares said that it is the responsibility of this company to write another chapter of Fiat in Serbia.

Head of Global Corporate Office at Stellantis Silvia Vernetti expressed her belief that electrification will support the transformation of the Serbian economy and ensure its future growth, enabling sustainable mobility.

With the start of series production, in two months, Serbia will become the first country with the final production of electric vehicles in the Balkans.

The adaptation of the Kragujevac factory from conventional to innovative car production took approximately two years. The lines are automated and robotic, and around 1,000 people are currently working on them.

Electric cars will roll off the production lines in Kragujevac first, and a hybrid version of the car has also been announced.
