Warning through SMS about emergency risk from 15 September

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior Ivica Dačić and Minister of Information and Telecommunications Dejan Ristić signed today the Agreement on cooperation in the transmission of urgent information to citizens in the event of announcement or the appearance of a threat of a natural disaster or a technical-technological disaster.

Speaking at a joint press conference, Dačić underlined that it was agreed that this system should become operational on 15 September, which will largely reduce risk to the lives and property of Serbian citizens.

All mobile phones located at the base station, in the part of the territory that is threatened by a certain risk in terms of emergency situations or anything else, will receive an SMS message, the Deputy Prime Minister specified.

Ristić pointed out the importance of the start of the system for the transmission of emergency information, explaining that this system will cover the territory of the entire country, but it will be possible, in the given circumstances, without any technical obstacles, to send that notification within a precisely defined geographical unit.

In addition to citizens of Serbia, this system will also include all those foreign citizens who are users of the services of foreign mobile operators and happen to be on the territory of Serbia.
