Minister of Foreign Affairs Marko Đurić said today from Nuku'alofa, the capital of the Kingdom of Tonga, where the 53rd meeting of the leaders of the Pacific Islands Forum is being held, that our country is participating in that gathering made a strategic step forward in relations with the Pacific region.

In a statement to journalists, Đurić pointed out that, at yesterday's gala dinner dedicated to the Expo 2027 Specialised Exhibition, Serbia was the only country that made an effort to present itself to countries in this part of the world.
He pointed out that the Serbian event, organised 18,000 km from Belgrade, was attended by more than 17 heads of government, states, foreign ministers, then the Secretary General of the Commonwealth, as well as the Secretary General of the Pacific Islands Forum, as well as the European Commissioner in charge of the neighbourhood.
The head of Serbian diplomacy emphasized that with its presence in Tonga, Serbia is gaining a new base of friends in a part of the world with which it has only begun to establish diplomatic relations in recent years.
