Prime Minister Miloš Vučević opened today in the House of the Serbian parliament the annual gathering of the diaspora and Serbs from the region "Unity and Strength - Serbia".
Speaking in his capacity as the envoy of President of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić, Vučević said that the Serbian people now more than ever need unity and strength in order to survive, not materially, but also essentially, that is, in the sense of life.
He stressed that we need strength, not to be heroic or to harm someone, but to withstand all the challenges and pressures we face, primarily in Kosovo and Metohija, but also of other kinds.
When we have a situation where the Cyrillic alphabet is forbidden in the places where Serbs live, when our church is disputed, when we, who lost the greatest number of people and are victims of genocide, are accused of genocide, then you understand that we need strength to save the country, and we cannot do that if we are not united, the Prime Minister pointed out.
This two-day event gathered approximately 250 representatives of associations and organizations that bring together the Serbian diaspora around the world, as well as representatives of Serbs from the countries of the region.
The meeting, which is organised by the Office of the Minister without portfolio responsible for coordinating activities and measures in the field of relations with the diaspora, is also attended by Serbian parliament Speaker Ana Brnabić, Deputy Prime Minister Aleksandar Vulin and Minister of Culture Nikola Selaković.
Also present are Minister of Science, Technological Development and Innovation Jelena Begović, Minister without portfolio in charge of coordinating activities and measures in the field of relations with the diaspora Đorđe Milićević, as well as representatives of the Serbian Orthodox Church and Deputy Prime Minister of North Macedonia Ivan Stoilković.
