President Aleksandar Vučić said at a ceremony organised to launch serial car tyre production at the Chinese factory Linglong in Zrenjanin today that this is the largest-ever greenfield investment in Serbia, estimated at $1 billion.
Vučić said that the factory spans 370,000 square metres under the dome, including a sports centre, restaurants and other facilities for employees, noting that 1,235 Serbian workers have been hired in the first phase.
In addition to Serbian employees, the factory also hires Chinese workers, he said, adding that the company plans to onboard 600 new workers as part of a fresh investment in the amount of €645 million.
This year, the factory will export €200 million worth of products, with plans to more than double the value to €500 million next year, the President announced, adding that the opening of the factory is the first phase, with Linglong to continue to expand. The company is expected to emerge as one of Serbia’s largest exporters within a few years, Vučić noted.
