In his address, Vučić assessed that the situation in the world seems even more difficult and darker than a year ago, that tensions are increasing, and challenges are becoming more numerous and complex.
We need to restore the shattered credibility and authority of the UN, to stop the practice of applying double standards - to restore faith in international law and the principles on which we all agreed a long time ago. It is a path that has no alternative, the President said.
He emphasised that Serbia and the Serbian people deeply sympathise and grieve for all the lives lost in the conflicts happening around the world, including the tragic events in the Middle East and Ukraine.
The President of Serbia pointed out that for the Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija, under the jurisdiction of the UN, there is no justice, no freedom, and no opportunities for everyone.
The irrationality of the politics of the Priština authorities, the fanaticism and the persecution of everything Serbian in Kosovo and Metohija, can be seen in a series of disturbing moves - from the ban on payments in the Serbian currency - the dinar, which has lasted for more than six months, and the ban on postal services, which is unique in the world, even for conflict areas, which endangers the daily life of Serbs and other non-Albanian population - up to the ban on the visit of the head of the Serbian Orthodox Church, Porfirije, to the Patriarchate of Peć, Vučić pointed out.
He asked how can there be peace in Kosovo and Metohija if the legal order and elementary rights of an entire nation are systematically violated there.
He pointed out that Serbia supports the territorial integrity of Ukraine and that it has not questioned that for a moment, nor will it.
But when great leaders talk about the need for Ukrainian freedom, about respecting the UN, its charter and resolutions, I wonder why they don't respect the UN Charter and Resolution 1244 when it comes to the territorial integrity of Serbia, Vučić asked.
The President showed a paper stating that no one but the forces under the control of the UN, and at the moment it is the forces of KFOR, may have an armed force on the soil of Kosovo and Metohija, which is part of Serbia in accordance with Resolution 1244.
According to him, those who committed aggression against Serbia and tried to separate a part of its territory, are daily arming what is today called the so-called Kosovo security forces, and already tomorrow it will grow into an army of Albanians in the territory of Serbia.
He stated that after everything, the key question is what is Serbia's path and how to get out of this situation, stating that our country is on the European path and that it sincerely wants to be part of the EU.
On the other hand, that same EU that we are striving for makes it clear that it does not want to respect the principles based on the UN Charter, or even the decisions of its European Council, since it supports the independence of so-called Kosovo, he underlined.
