Important role of supplementary schools in Serbian language in diaspora

Milićević said that the preservation of the Serbian language, culture and identity among young generations is one of the most important topics for the Serbian people living outside of Serbia.
He pointed out that the contribution of supplementary schools is particularly significant not only in preserving the language, but also in familiarising children with the cultural and historical values of Serbia.
The Minister recalled that today supplementary schools in the Serbian language operate in 22 countries and that 9,704 students of Serbian origin attend them worldwide, noting that this number, which increases year in year out, shows how important it is to provide children with the opportunity to obtain education in the language of their ancestors.
