First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Siniša Mali today presented Serbia’s potential for investment and pointed out that our country is now even more attractive for large investors.
Mali, who is participating in the Annual Meetings of the IMF and the World Bank, estimated that the two most important things that Serbia offers to big investors are credibility and fulfilling everything that the state promises.
The First Deputy Prime Minister pointed out that Serbia had the opportunity to properly present our country in a conversation with more than 20 of the largest investors in the United States brought by Bank of America.
These are funds that can invest anywhere in the world. They now want to see what is happening in Serbia, and we are acting for the first time as a country with an investment credit rating, from a completely different position, Mali said.
He explained that we are talking about investors who already invest in our securities, but also those who are interested in investing in the future and added that Serbia is now being looked at much more seriously, because it is more attractive for investments.
According to him, investors had questions about our economic policy and Serbia’s entry into the EU.
Mali explained that it is different when you come in as an investment-grade country and you are talking about higher growth rates, record low unemployment and record high employment, as well as huge inflows of foreign direct investment.
When you add all those macroeconomic indicators, Serbia is really in a good position. On the other hand, we have clear growth goals – that is the Serbia 2027 plan, as well as the specialised exhibition Expo 2027, where we expect more than three million visitors, and Serbia will use this opportunity in the best way, Mali emphasised.
