The opening ceremony was also attended by Prime Minister of North Macedonia Hristijan Mickoski, Serbian member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina Željka Cvijanović, President of Republika Srpska Milorad Dodik, Mayor of Ljubljana Zoran Janković and Prime Minister of Albania Edi Rama, who addressed the event via video message.
At the opening, Vučić pointed out that this wine fair had grown into the third most important in Europe and assessed that it was a great joint success.
He stated that the idea of organising this fair arose as a conclusion of Belgrade, Skopje and Tirana, expressing gratitude to everyone for the enormous effort they had invested in its organisation.
According to him, exhibitors from 38 countries are present, which is very important for everyone for the sake of connectivity.
Serbia and Albania are officially the countries with the highest tourism growth rate in all of Europe, with our country recording more than 10 million overnight stays and over 3.3 million tourists in the first nine months, the President pointed out, emphasising that this fair is one of the things with which we have managed to attract a huge number of people, to keep them in Belgrade, in other parts of Serbia, thereby stimulating the development of our economy.
He expressed gratitude to the winemakers from Serbia who have made great progress in the previous seven to eight years.
Mickoski said that this event is proof of cooperation, vision and commitment of the countries of the Open Balkans towards improving economic ties, cultural exchange and tourism promotion.
Edi Rama assessed that this fair is an opportunity for the countries of the region to show their achievements in wine production, to learn from each other and to build bridges of cooperation.
President of the Association of Winemakers and Winegrowers of Serbia Stevan Rajta said that this fair has grown into a globally significant event where tradition and innovation intertwine, thereby opening Serbia and the region to new markets.
The fair features more than 650 exhibitors from numerous wineries, distilleries and gastronomic companies from 38 countries, and for three days Belgrade will be in the focus of the European and world public as the capital of wine and gastronomy.
At the same time, starting from today until 24 November, the accompanying event "Food Vision by Open Balkan" will bring together leaders in the food industry and culinary arts, including some of the most prominent names in the culinary world.
"Food Vision by Open Balkan" is organised under the auspices of the Serbian government, in association with the Junior Chefs Club, and represents a unique platform for the promotion of the gastronomy, culture and traditions of the Balkans, with the motto "Confluence of Tastes", symbolising the harmony of tastes and the connection of different cultures.
