Representatives of the Government of the Republic of Serbia, the City of Belgrade and the Chinese company PowerChina signed today a Contractual Agreement for Lot 2 of the first phase of the Belgrade metro Line 1, worth €720 million.
Minister for Public Investment Darko Glišić, who is also acting as Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure, said that the contract will be implemented in the shortest possible time, expressing his belief that the metro construction project will bring long-term benefits not only to the Serbian capital, but also the entire country.
He recalled that the entire project envisages the construction of three metro lines, which will pass through nine Belgrade municipalities.
The contractual agreement covers the design and execution of works, including preparatory activities and the procurement of tunnel boring machines (TBM), with an implementation deadline of 45 months, plus two years.
The agreement allows for the designation of a separate Lot 2, which will be financed from the state budget and which comes into force immediately, in what will contribute to a more rapid construction of the first phase of the Belgrade metro Line 1.
