SPORTS IN 2024

The following is a review of some of the greatest successes of Serbian sports in the Olympic year. We would like to highlight the achievement of Novak Đoković, who completed his Golden Slam by winning the men's singles tennis gold at the Paris Olympic Games.

PARIS SUMMER OLYMPIC GAMES: Five medals - Novak Đoković in men’s singles tennis (gold), Zorana Arunović/Damir Mikec in shooting - the 10m air pistol mixed team event (gold), the men’s water polo team (gold), Aleksandra Perišić in women’s -67kg of the taekwondo tournament (silver), and the men’s basketball team (bronze).

PARIS SUMMER PARALYMPIC GAMES: Six medals - Dragan Ristić in para shooting (gold), Nebojša Đurić (silver) and Željko Dimitrijević (bronze) in para athletics, Borislava Perić-Ranković (silver), Borislava Perić-Ranković/Nada Matić (bronze) and Mitar Palikuća (bronze) in para table tennis.

SHOOTING: Gold medal for Zorana Arunović at the ISSF World Cup in Munich, Germany. Bronze for Lazar Kovačević at the ISSF World Cup in Cairo, Egypt.

JUDO: Silver medal for Nemanja Majdov at the World Championships in Abu Dhabi, UAE. Bronze medal for Serbia in the mixed judo team event at the European Championships in Zagreb, Croatia.

WRESTLING: Gold medal for Greco-Roman wrestler Aleksandr Komarov at the European Championships in Bucharest, Romania.

ATHLETICS: Silver medals for high jumper Angelina Topić and javelin thrower Adriana Vilagoš at the European Championships in Rome, Italy.

ROWING: Gold medal for Jovana Arsić at the European Championships in Szeged, Hungary.

BOXING: Twenty medals for national boxing team at the European Championships in Belgrade, Serbia - four gold, three silver and 13 bronze.

TAEKWONDO: Three medals for the national team at the European Championships in Belgrade - one silver and two bronze.

KAYAK: Bronze medal for Milica Novaković at the European Championships in Szeged.

SWIMMING: Gold medal for the men’s 4x100 freestyle relay team (Andrej Barna, Velimir Stjepanović, Nikola Aćin and Justin Cvetko) and bronze for Andrej Barna in the men's 100m freestyle event at the European Aquatics Championships in Belgrade.

BASKETBALL AND 3x3 BASKETBALL: Third NBA MVP award for Nikola Jokić in the last four seasons. Silver medal for the men’s national 3x3 team at the European Championships in Vienna, Austria.

TABLE TENNIS: Bronze medal for women’s double (Izabela Lupulesku/Sabina Šurjan) at the European Championships in Linz, Austria.

CHESS: Gold medal for Aleksandar Inđić at the European Individual Chess Championship in Petrovac, Montenegro.
