Minister of Foreign Affairs Marko Đurić today signed the book of condolences at the US Embassy in Belgrade, honouring the memory of former US President Jimmy Carter.
In his message, Đurić extended his sympathies to the deceased’s family and the people of the United States, noting that Jimmy Carter was an extraordinary leader and tireless humanitarian whose commitment to peace, justice and human rights left an indelible mark both in the US and globally.
We will remember him as a man of great wisdom and compassion, with a vision of a better and more just society, who inspired many generations, and whose good deeds will forever serve as an example to humanity. His visit to Belgrade in 1980, the last by a US president to our capital, has a special place in the memory of our people, wrote Đurić.
The head of Serbian diplomacy stated that we share in the sadness of this irreplaceable loss while also taking pride in the legacy Jimmy Carter left to the world, noting that the memory of his life and work will remain forever in our hearts.
