Supply of Serbia with petroleum products runs smoothly

Prime Minister Miloš Vučević stated tonight that the introduction of sanctions against the Serbian petroleum industry Naftna Industrija Srbije (NIS) by the US is a major challenge and problem, but that Serbian citizens should not worry because we have enough diesel, gasoline and all petroleum products so that supply cannot be jeopardised.

In a statement for Radio Television of Vojvodina (RTV) regarding the sanctions that the US imposed on NIS today, Vučević said that we currently have reserves for three months, that everything is functioning orderly and smoothly.

There is no room for panic. The government has a difficult job ahead of it to make a decision that will be in Serbia's interest, he stated and added that more discussions will be held on this in the coming days.

According to him, then we will know more about it and create a clear strategy of our activities and what Serbia must do in the given period.

The Prime Minister stated that Serbia, in parallel with the conversation with the Americans, will also have to talk with the Russians, where the crucial conversation will be the one between presidents Aleksandar Vučić and Vladimir Putin, which will determine the direction of events.

We are negotiating with the company Gazprom a gas arrangement, without which we will not have heating in large cities, nor enough electricity, Vučević underlined.
