Prime Minister Miloš Vučević said today that the introduction of US sanctions on the Serbian petroleum industry Naftna Industrija Srbije (NIS) will not jeopardise the energy supply to businesses and citizens.
Speaking on Radio Television of Serbia, Vučević stated that difficult days are ahead of the state leadership, adding that nothing will change for citizens in terms of regular functioning and that the orderly supply of energy to citizens and businesses will continue.
He indicated that the Serbian leadership will receive additional clarifications from the US in the coming hours and days, emphasising that every comma, period and word is important so that there is no arbitrary interpretation.
The Prime Minister pointed out the importance of complete synchronisation of all procedures that the state of Serbia must implement in the next 45 days in order to save not only NIS, but also to preserve our country.
The Prime Minister said that our country's room for manoeuvre has gotten narrower, and that Serbia's red lines are that our country must not be a bargaining chip for the great powers.
He stated that the President of the Republic and members of the Serbian government will talk today in Belgrade with US Deputy Secretary of State for Management and Resources Richard Verma, adding that it is good that this meeting is being held now and that energy will certainly be one of the topics.
