Prime Minister Miloš Vučević stated following a meeting with Minister of Education Slavica Đukić Dejanović that classes are taking place in more than 80% of schools in the country today.
Vučević told the Tanjug news agency that he had received a full report from the territory of the entire country and expressed gratitude on behalf of the government to all professors, teachers and principals.
He also thanked the parents and students who made it possible for classes to take place, for our students to return to their desks, for the school year to continue and for the second semester to begin.
According to him, over the past 72 hours, as a society, we have been exposed to incredible media pressure and pressure on social networks not to bring children to school and announcing blockades.
Accordingly, he appealed, primarily to parents and students, to protect schools from day-to-day politics.
We have a parliament, squares and media where politics can be discussed. We owe it to children to protect them from day-to-day politics and various political views, goals and options. Politics has no place among children, the Prime Minister emphasised.
He added that this is everyone’s obligation to students in both primary and secondary schools and expressed his belief that everyone in society will be aware of their responsibility and act with dignity and fairness.
At the same time, the Prime Minister announced that starting tomorrow, the education inspectorate will send inspectors to schools that have suspended classes in violation of the law, and that the inspectors will act in accordance with the law.
