Dačić explained that this vehicle was donated to Serbia as a result of cooperation with the International Organization for Migration (IOM) Serbia, as the implementing partner, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Denmark, which provided financial resources for its purchase.
This donation will contribute to a more efficient response to security challenges at the borders, as well as the mobility of our border police, he emphasised, adding that Serbia protects its borders and citizens, but in doing so also safeguards the security and stability of the entire Europe.
The Deputy Prime Minister recalled that the signed Agreement between Serbia and the European Union on operational activities, implemented by the European Border and Coast Guard Agency (Frontex), also contributes to the protection of Europe’s borders.
Danish Ambassador to Serbia Pernille Dahler Kardel stated that Denmark, through the IOM Mission in Serbia, provided support to the Serbian Ministry of the Interior in the procurement of the “Schengen Bus”, the first multifunctional vehicle for enhanced state border control.
Chief of Mission at IOM Serbia Zeynal Hajiyev explained that the “Schengen Bus”, the first vehicle of this type in Serbia, will assist border police in conducting enhanced border controls and registering migrants outside border crossings.
Given that Serbia’s obligations under Chapter 24, the Schengen Action Plan and the overall EU accession process further emphasise the importance of efficient migration management, the procurement of such a vehicle will contribute to improving migration and border management in Serbia, concluded Hajiyev.
