Minister of Defence Bratislav Gašić attended today a ceremony marking the Day of the Military Intelligence Agency and the 141st anniversary of the military intelligence service.
The ceremony, which was held in the Great War Hall of the Old General Staff, was attended by Prime Minister Miloš Vučević and members of the government, Director of the Security and Information Agency Vladimir Orlić, members of the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces, representatives of state institutions, religious communities, the military-diplomatic corps and numerous guests.
Addressing those present and congratulating them on today’s holiday, Gašić emphasised that the military intelligence service has developed and operated successfully in both war and peacetime conditions, and that its members have succeeded, at crucial moments, in providing the state and military leadership with information crucial for making the most important decisions.
The Minister of Defense stated that the Military Intelligence Agency is a modern organisation that, by uniting different specialties, has successfully adapted to modern challenges.
According to him, due to the fact that it is the only purely intelligence service in our country, the scope of work of this agency goes beyond the field of defense and also includes reporting on broader security, political, economic and energy challenges.
Recognizing the information and analytical capacities of the Military Intelligence Agency, the state leadership continuously supports your development in organizational, technical and financial terms, the minister said, and emphasized that the number of delegations has been increased to 31.
Gašić expressed his belief that in the future, the Military Intelligence Agency will continue to be an insurmountable barrier to the external enemies of our country, and a reliable support for the state and military leadership.
I congratulate you on your holiday, with the wish that you continue to do your job patriotically, honorably and professionally, the Minister said.
