By doing so, Popović paid tribute to all the innocent victims of NATO’s criminal aggression against our country.
The young girl, Milica Rakić, has become a symbol of the suffering endured during the three-month-long bombing campaign, in which thousands of civilians lost their lives, including 89 innocent children.
The monument in Tašmajdan Park was erected in 2000 and is dedicated to all the children who perished during NATO’s criminal military attack on our country.
While paying his respects to the victims, Popović emphasised that there is hardly a town in Serbia that was not targeted by NATO forces during the 11 weeks of shameful, aggressive attacks.
The Minister stated that the bombing of our country represents an unprecedented event in modern history, during which an attack on a sovereign state grossly violated international law and undermined the foundations of security in Europe.
We do not forget the innocent victims, we do not forget the fear, pain and suffering of the Serbian people, and we do not forget NATO’s crimes, Popović concluded.
