Opening a regional conference on the prevention and investigation of corruption at border crossings, Vukic explained that this involves cooperation of state authorities and institutions that are directly included in the creation of a firm mechanism for the suppression of this crime.
He noted that the implementation of experiences obtained during the project "Joint Border Anti-Corruption Initiative” will provide a significant contribution to the activities taken by the relevant ministry on fighting corruption.
Deputy US Ambassador to Serbia Gordon Duguid pointed to the need for cooperation of the competent authorities of a country in the fight against crime and corruption, but also for strengthening transborder cooperation because crime and corruption do not have borders.
The conference was hosted by the US Embassy in Serbia and lecturers were representatives of the US national security.
The event was also attended by representatives of the interior ministries, prosecutor’s offices and customs of Serbia, Bulgaria, Croatia, Hungary and Romania.
