Speaking at a press conference held after the meeting of President of the Republic Aleksandar Vucic and Lajcak, which Petkovic also attended, he said that the Serbian side is going to Brussels very well prepared and with a special team of experts.
He stated that the talks about the text of the Statute of the Community of Serb Municipalities is the first concrete step towards the formation of the Community.
According to him, the talks on the Statute should give answers on how to resolve a number of important issues related to the Community of Serb Municipalities, first and foremost, how to resolve the executive powers which the Community of Serb Municipalities has under the agreements signed in 2013 and 2015.
This refers to the health sector, education, spatial planning and all other important questions. Belgrade is fully entitled to finance all these institutions through the Community of Serb Municipalities, Petkovic stated.
The Director of the Office reiterated that Belgrade is a constructive side in the dialogue, a side that is committed to the process of normalisation of relations, and that de-escalation on the ground is necessary, especially in the north of Kosovo and Metohija.
