Minister of Foreign Affairs Marko Đurić spoke today with Senior Bureau Official for the Bureau of European and Eurasian Affairs at the United States Department of State Louis Bono.
In a telephone conversation, Đurić expressed satisfaction with modern bilateral relations, recently crowned by the initiation of the Strategic Dialogue as an additional platform for cooperation between our two countries in many areas.
With the mutually expressed readiness for strategic talks on further improving our relations, we have laid the foundation for a new chapter in our long common history, Đurić assessed.
The head of Serbian diplomacy reiterated our country's firm determination to cooperate with the new American administration in order to strengthen the political, economic and other aspects of our relations, as well as to affirm itself as one of the key US partners in Europe.
Informing his interlocutor about the situation in Kosovo and Metohija, he placed special emphasis on the constant provocations and violations of the basic human rights of Serbs and other non-Albanian population, emphasising that in the current situation of increased tensions, we expect international partners to ensure the rights and security of Serbs and support the implementation of all agreements reached in the Belgrade-Priština dialogue.
When it comes to increasingly intensive economic relations, Đurić said that the US is a very important economic partner and one of the leading foreign investors, and that the presence of a large number of American companies which, in addition to successful business, are also opening research and development centres, confirms the positive business environment in our country, according to a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
