The Ministry of Justice and Public Administration stated that Selakovic welcomed the new ambassador and expressed his willingness to continue the successful cooperation.
Selakovic informed Kirby about the results of his visit to Vienna and Brussels, and the US ambassador expressed great interest in the future work of the Ministry.
The Minister underlined that the priority of his Ministry is implementation of a strategy for creation of rule of law and the fight against systemic corruption.
In this regard he pointed to changes to the set of most important judicial laws, change of the network of courts and the prosecution, the return of unelected judges and prosecutors, as well as the creation and strengthening of professional capacities, in which the Judicial Academy has the most important role.
The strengthening of institutions, such as the High Judicial Council and State Prosecutorial Council, is the basic prerequisite for effective, impartial and independent judiciary, Selakovic underlined and noted that the establishment of criteria for evaluating the performance of judges and prosecutors is one of the mandatory steps in the near future, it is added in the statement.
