Monks of the Holy Archangels Monastery (Sveti Arhangeli) in Prizren, which was burned by ethnic Albanian vandals during the latest outburst of violence in the province, returned yesterday to the monastery complex under the escort of KFOR soldiers. The return was organised by the Coordinating Centre for Kosovo-Metohija.
Head of the monastery Hieromonk Benedikt, Father German and the monks will be temporarily accommodated in two camp-trailers which contain food, other necessities and a power generator.
This is the third time that the monastery has returned to life, after the expulsion of monks in 1998, 1999 and March 17, 2004.
Monks of the Holy Archangels Monastery will be permanently guarded by German KFOR soldiers, read a statement by the Coordinating Centre for Kosovo-Metohija.
