Covic said that nothing is the same in Kosovo-Metohija since March 17, adding that the concept of a multiethnic Kosovo-Metohija has turned into an illusion.
Although Kosovo Serbs had gone to the polls twice and joined the interim institutions in the province, they suffered ethnic cleansing instead of being awarded for their willingness to cooperate, the head of the Coordinating Centre said.
Covic said he doubts that it is possible to create a multiethnic Kosovo-Metohija and reach standards before personal safety for all citizens in the province has been secured, the Serb and ethnic Albanian communities separated and decentralisation carried out.
For that reason, it is necessary that KFOR introduce military administration in Kosovo-Metohija, carry out decentralisation and punish those responsible for ethnic cleansing and violence in the province, Covic said.
Grossman said that if the policy of "standards before status" were abandoned, the entire peace-making process would be brought to question and results of the violence justified.
He reiterated that the recent outbreak of ethnic violence in Kosovo-Metohija will not be tolerated and stressed that those responsible must be brought to justice.
