Establishing diplomatic relations with Co-operative Republic of Guyana

The Serbian government adopted today the Decision on the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Republic of Serbia and the Co-operative Republic of Guyana, bearing in mind the need to improve overall bilateral relations and establish cooperation in areas of mutual interest for the two countries.

Government members agreed to undertake the necessary activities for the organisation of the event "Day of Serbian Unity, Freedom and the National Flag and Including the Diaspora in its Celebration", with the aim of gathering our diaspora, preserving national identity and creating stronger ties with the mother country.

With these activities, support will be directed to the Serbian diaspora for participating in an economic forum at the General Consulate of the Republic of Serbia in Munich and for spreading a positive image of Serbia in the world.

The Serbian government awarded monetary prizes, in the amount of €200,000 in dinar equivalent, to athletes Damir Mikec and Zorana Arunović for winning the gold medal in the mixed team in the Olympic sports discipline — archery at the Olympic Games in Paris. An award in the same amount was given to their coach Jelena Arunović.

At today's session, decisions were made on awarding national sports awards and monetary awards to athletes Iva Obradović, Milorad Čavić and Janko Tipsarević.
