First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Siniša Mali met in Washington today with World Bank Group President Ajay Banga, as part of the meeting of the Constituency to which Serbia belongs.
Mali said at the World Bank headquarters that the meeting looked at the most important topics related to the global economy, as well as Serbia’s bid to host the IMF-World Bank annual meetings in 2029.
This is another opportunity for Serbia to be the centre of the world, to gather the elite when it comes to financial institutions, he said, noting that the last time such a meeting was held in the country was back in 1979.
Mali informed Banga about the achievements of the Serbian economy, as well as the fact that Serbia will host Specialised Expo Belgrade 2027, whereas all the countries that were present at the meeting confirmed their participation in the exhibition, except for Poland.
He noted that he received assurances from the Polish Minister of Finance that the country will also accept participation in this event, which is very important.
According to him, the goal is for Serbia to be the best possible host of Expo 2027, which is the basis for the country’s further accelerated growth and development.
