Serbia continues to strengthen cooperation with China

First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ivica Dacic stated today that he is convinced that Serbia and the People’s Republic of China will strengthen cooperation in all aspects, especially in the field of the economy and infrastructure.

Opening the Second conference “New world trends in the reflection of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China”, Dacic expressed gratitude to China on the significant support it gives us in the preservation of territorial integrity and added that Serbia reciprocates them in the protection of their national interests when it comes to the One China policy.

The First Deputy Prime Minister pointed out that today’s conference in Belgrade is a way to encourage cooperation between Serbia and China, which both countries see as friendly, strategic and long-term, to mutual benefit.

He added that he sees the One Belt, One Road initiative as a supporting model of cooperation between the two countries, stating that Serbia was among the first states that recognised the usefulness of that project and is one of the most active and wants to continue to strengthen cooperation with China as a reliable partner and one of the most influential factors in today’s world.

Special Envoy of the Vice Foreign Minister of China Cha Li, who addressed the conference via video link, said that the One Belt, One Road initiative was welcomed by the international community. The Chinese side signed a cooperation agreement with 149 states and 32 organisations and founded the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank. A large number of projects have been launched already, including the construction of the Belgrade-Budapest high-speed railway, she recalled.
